When buying a hot tub, there are many different accessories that have to be bought along with it. One of the most important is the hot tub cover, since it will be protecting the hot tub and helping to insulate it. These hot tub covers do not come cheap, but they are an important way to help to maintain the hot tub for years of use. The hot tub covers help to keep the dirt and debris out of the hot tub so that the water stays cleaner and the filter does not have to work as hard. The cover also allows the motor for the heater to not have to work as hard either, since the cover works to insulate the hot tub and keep in the majority of the heat.
When to Use Soft Hot Tub Cover
A soft hot tub cover is much easier to handle than a hard hot tub cover. Hard covers are bulky and difficult for one person to remove from the hot tub when he wants to use it. Often the hard covers will require a lift in order for the person to be able to use it, which costs another one to two hundred dollars to purchase and install. Soft hot tub covers are made of a vinyl material that easily rolls up as it is being removed so that the individual can quickly access the hot tub.
Soft hot tub covers are a great choice for individuals who have a hot tub that is located indoors in an area where nothing needs to be set on top of it and no one has the possibility of stepping or sitting on the cover. Soft hot tub covers can also be used outdoors in locations where there are not many trees or bushes around it that may fling branches or other cumbersome debris onto the cover, possibly damaging it. These covers are less expensive than the hard covers, which means the total cost of the hot tub with the accessories is less in the beginning. It is also fairly easy to repair if it does get torn, utilizing the same color duct tape as the cover.
There are some soft hot tub covers that have child proof straps that hold it into position and are made of tough material that is unlikely to tear if a child inadvertently walks across it. However, soft hot tub covers are not as stable as the hard hot tub covers that are designed to allow individuals to sit or walk across them if needed. Soft hot tub covers are not the best choice for individuals who have large pets that may walk across it or children that might happen to walk across it.
